A/C & Duallys

Two things that needed my upmost attention:  One, was to have a rooftop air conditioner installed since where I live, it is required for any type of camping due to the high levels of humidity.

And the second, was with more importance. I would have 15" custom duallys made.  The Toyota came with stock 14" duallys.  The front's are stock 15" rims.  In order to use the four wheel drive, all the rims had to match in size.  Why this was not done earlier, is a good question.  The speedometer was reading faster than the actual speed hence the mileage was also affected as well.  So, with a lot of research and asking a lot of questions a phone call to Custom Commercial Wheel was made and 4 new custom rims were ordered.

The Restoration Begins....

Before

I dug right in and the first to go was the original carpeting. It had shown years of wear and the smell had reflected that. The floor in itself was soft and crowned in spots so some new underlayment took care of that.  Replacing the carpet was somewhat of a breeze to me, as my old upholstery skills were put to the test in making certain cuts to the carpet.  In all, I lost about an inch and a half of headroom which did not effect me, but would someone over 5'10".

Ahhh.....the smell of new carpet!  Now it is starting to take on a whole new feeling inside. Out with the old...and in with the new!

With the carpet in,  I moved on to the detailing of every nook and cranny.  This is where my OCD kicked in and I couldn't be happier having the coach look as good as new, once again.

Coming Home....

In May of 2009 I had finally found my dream RV.  A 1985 Toyota Sunrader 4wd.  Without hesitation, I purchased a one way ticket for my father to fly to California to retrieve "my find".  With only pictures in hand and a few phone calls to the seller, I could only wait with anticipation to see if this "Dream RV" will soon be mine.  As luck would have it, there were no hidden surprises & I was truly blessed to find the seller honest as honest Abe.  Everything about the RV was better than expected and more.

With title in hand, the cross country trip was just getting started.  My father, a retired truck driver was perfect for such a trip.  With no time to spare he ventured off, and before I knew it, he was pulling in the driveway with my "Dream RV".
